Talk:Bob Lazar
Add topicThe use of the term "conspiracy theorist" in the Wikipedia article is an example of what we believe is a pattern of problematic and misleading appellation in mainstream tertiary sources. Lazar is, of course, a conspiracy theorist because he espouses the conspiracy theory that U.S. corporations and government agencies are working on electrogravitic vehicles in Area 51. However, he is not particularly notable because he is a conspiracy theorist, since any investigator can synthesize the evidence, including Lazar's own testimony, and espouse the same conspiracy theory(ies). Lazar is notable because he claims to be a witness to the corporations and government agencies working on electrogravitic vehicles in Area 51. It is critical to acknowledge that what he brings to the table is his testimony, i.e. his recollections, which his whole conspiracy theory is presumably largely based off of. The distinctions between witness, theorist/conspiracy theorist, and investigator are critical.
