S-4
S-4 or Site Four is a facility first described by whistleblower Robert Lazar during a 1989 interview with KLAS television.[1] Lazar described a remote location on the outskirts of the notorious Groom lake complex (Area 51) that consisted of 9 camouflaged hangar doors set into the hillside. The upcoming documentary Project Gravitaur will feature S-4, including a VR experience that will enable viewers to view the facility in the first-person perspective.
Location of S-4[edit | edit source]
S-4 is located off the eastern shore of Papoose dry lake, approximately 13 miles south of Area 51 (Groom dry lake). There is a teardrop feature on the dry lakebed, S-4 is about 900 feet off the lakebed, where the desert floor meets the hillside.
Description of the base[edit | edit source]
S-4 consists of a facility built into the hillside, it has multiple hangar bays, work areas, laboratories, meeting spaces and areas for the staff. As they pulled up to the facility, the bus would drive past the row of nine camouflaged hangar doors before turning 90 degrees to the left and pulling up to the pedestrian entrance. The doors sat at a 30-60 degree angle, were sand colored and coated to match the texture of the surrounding desert environment. A synthetic tarmac area was present outside the hangar doors.
Once Lazar was dropped off at the pedestrian entrance, he would go inside a double door type entry and bypass the front security desk to reach a hand scanner. Once the scanner verified his identity, a card authorizing access to locations within S-4 he was cleared for would be dispensed.
Confirmation[edit | edit source]
Journalist George Knapp and Jeremy Corbell have both received independent confirmations of S-4. Former SR-71 pilot Captain David Fruehauf has also confirmed the existence of S-4.[2] Captain Fruehauf worked at Area 51 and, before his death, stated that Lazar's description of Area 51 was "entirely accurate," that he was aware of a place called S-4 but was not aware of what they did there, and finally that a small group of employees would board an unmarked bus to drive south toward Papoose lake.
