==Geography==
Holloman is located in New Mexico's [[Tularosa Basin]] between the [[Sacramento Mountains (New Mexico)|Sacramento]] and [[San Andres Mountains|San Andres]] mountain ranges. The base is about {{convert|10|mi|km|0}} west of Alamogordo, New Mexico, on [[U.S. Route 70 in New Mexico|U.S. Route 70]]; {{convert|90|mi|km|0}} north of [[El Paso, Texas]]; and {{convert|70|mi|km|0}} east of [[Las Cruces, New Mexico]]. The base covers {{convert|59639|acre|ha|0|lk=out}} and is located at an altitude of {{convert|4093|ft|m|0}}.

The base is also a [[census-designated place]] (CDP), which had a population of 2,076 at the [[2000 United States census|2000 census]].<ref name="GR2" /> According to the [[United States Census Bureau]], the town has a total area of {{convert|12.7|sqmi|km2}}, of which, {{convert|12.5|sqmi|km2}} is land and {{convert|0.2|sqmi|km2}} (1.18%) is water.
