On November 3, 2022, the homes of Joerg Arnu in Rachel, NV, and in Las Vegas were simultaneously raided by a joint force of FBI and Air Force OSI special agents.<ref>Owner of Area 51 website has homes searched, items seized by federal agents: "I am not a spy" - CBS News</ref> Various items, including computers, drives, phones, camera gear, a drone, and many other items, were seized during the raid. The government has not yet revealed the motivation behind the raid, and FOIA requests have been so far denied.

According to the website operator, no criminal charges have yet been filed in the case, although the government is still declining to reimburse him. They have also refused to return his items or provide justification for the raid.
