Editing Disinformation

Disinformation refers to the calculated spreading of false or misleading information in order to elicit a specific outcome. It is a form of information warfare, in which information is the battlespace and the manipulation of that information to the favor of the presenter is the goal.

At a basic level, Disinformation is a Counter-Intelligence technique. Counter-Intelligence is any means employed that denies an adversary the capability of collecting intelligence or degrading the specific usefulness of that intelligence (ie: disinformation).

== Technique ==
According to former AFOSI Special Agent [[Richard Doty]], a good Disinformation program involved the release of truthful information alongside misleading material. He claimed that by releasing "juicier" bits of truth alongside the deceptive material, the odds increase an individual or group targetted for suppression via disinformation will accept it as true.
