An '''extraterrestrial being''', also known as an '''extraterrestrial''' or '''space alien''', is a [[being (entity)|being]] that originates beyond [[Earth]]. Extraterrestrial beings are distinct from [[terrestrial humans]], [[cryptoterrestrials]] (including [[subterranean nonhuman intelligent beings]]), and [[covert extraterrestrials]], but they may overlap with [[non-human intelligent beings]] (see [[Terminology for non-human intelligent beings and extraterrestrial beings|Terminology]]). 

Extraterrestrial beings are described as inhabiting [[celestial body|celestial bodies]] (including [[artificial celestial body|artificial celestial bodies]] such as [[planets]] or [[moons]] od regions of [[interplanetary space]]. They range from relatively simple organisms (including those classified under [[biological life]]) to advanced [[non-human intelligent being|non-human intelligent beings]] with diverse forms, cultures, and abilities. Some are described as strictly biological, while others are described as [[non-biological life|non-biological]] or [[cybernetic]] entities.
