A multigenerational conspiracy is a concept in certain conspiracy theories where it is theorized that a covert plan or sinister objective extends across multiple generations. These conspiracies are believed to operate by capitalizing on the fact that most people are unaware that the individuals involved are planning for events well beyond their own lifetimes, and who, for that or other reasons, would tend to underestimate the lengths suspected conspirators would go to maintain any clandestine coordination. Such conspiracies are typically disclosed to only a select few individuals, who are then tasked with managing the activities and secrets of the group even beyond the lifetimes of the original conspirators. This extends the conspiracy of silence far beyond the lifetime of any single individual involved. Virtually all grand conspiracy theories, which usually deal with alleged grand conspiracies, posit multigenerational conspiracies.
