Disinformation refers to the calculated dissemination of false or misleading information in order to elicit a specific outcome. It is a form of information warfare, in which information is the battlespace and the manipulation of that information to the favor of the presenter is the goal.

At a basic level, Disinformation is a Counter-Intelligence technique. Counter-Intelligence is any means employed that denies an adversary the capability of collecting intelligence or degrading the specific usefulness of that intelligence (ie: disinformation).

Technique edit

According to former AFOSI Special Agent Richard Doty, a good Disinformation program involved the release of truthful information alongside misleading material. He claimed that by releasing "juicier" bits of truth alongside the deceptive material, the odds increase an individual or group targetted for suppression via disinformation will accept it as true.

Noteworthy Cases edit

  • Paul Bennewitz - One of the most famous historical examples showing the lengths our government will go to in order to "defuse" someone.
  • UFO Coverup - The conspiracy theory which alleges a massive coverup has been undertaken for a century or more to deprive the public of the truth about NHI and the nature of UAP/UFO phenomena.
  • Men In Black - Mysterious people or beings that often use disinformation as a means of suppressing unauthorized disclosure about NHI/UAP.
